Which character did you like best in the novel?

- We are students from Ozel Bilkent Lisesi. We studied William Golding's 'Lord of the flies' and we prepared this blog to guide the students all over the world.
In the novel, the boys are schoolchildren. In the movie, the boys are military schoolboys.
ReplyDeleteIn the novel, Ralph isn’t nice to Piggy in the beginning of the book. In the movie, Ralph always be friendly to Piggy.
In the novel, Piggy asks the boys what their names are. In the movie, he doesn’t ask any of the boys’ names.
In the novel, they said little boys to “littluns”. In the movie they didn’t say “littluns” to little boys.
In the novel, one of the boys dies after the fire spreads out of control. In the movie, this never happens.
In the movie, Ralph had an injured his left arm. In the book, it was not mentioned.
In the novel, they saw a ship at the end. In the movie they saw a helicopter.
• Pilot was death in the book but in the movie pilot was alive.

• In the book Ralph did eat the other children’s meat but in movie only piggy eats.
• Children’s hair becomes long but in the movie their hair was always short.
• Fishes surround Simons death body but in the movie they not.
1) Simon is black in the book however Simon is white in the movie.
ReplyDelete2) A ship passes in the book while they weren't keeping fire alive but a plane passes in the movie while they were keeping the fire alive.
3) At the end of the book the soldier doesn’t speak but at the end of the movie the soldier speaks.
4) Piggy asks most of the boys what their names are in the book, in direct contradiction ,piggy doesn't ask any of the boys what their names are in the movie.
5) Lord of the flies talks to Simon in the book. Lord of the flies doesn't talk to Simon in the movie.
6) In the book all of adults died in the plane crash whereas in the movie Pilot survives for a while before he dies.
7) In the book Ralph and Piggy don’t find musical instrument however in the movie they find accordion.
8) In the book Ralph doesn't have an injury on his arm. in the movie Ralph has an injury on his arm.
9) There is no dead parachutist in the movie. There is a dead parachutist in the book.
10) In the movie when Simon died nothing happened he only floats on the water but in the novel when Simon died some glowing fishes surrounded him.
11) No glow sticks were shown in the book, while in the movie, Simon used the glow stick to see what was in the cave.
I want to share the differences between the movie and the book. I noticed that Simon and Piggy find nothing in the book but if we watch its movie. They find an accordion from the sea. Simon is black in the book and he is white in the movie. If you ask me that is an enormous difference lol. In the book while they weren't keeping the fire alive. A ship passes the island. If we watch the movie again. A plane passes even the fire was alive. In the book again, Piggy ask children their names to make a list however there is no such thing in the movie. Again In the movie Simon don't talk with the lord of the flies but if we read that book, we see that Simon talks with the lord of the flies. At the end of the story book, British army arrives at island but in the movie Us soldiers come to that island and the last difference that i noticed is at the begining of the story. When the plain crashes, Ralph's arm was injured in the book but in the movie he is alive and kicking. That's all for now. Cya guys :)))))

-In the novel pilot wasn't alive but in the movie pilot wants water.
-In the novel Raplh's arm was good but in the movie Ralph's arm was broken.
-In the book Jack didn't help Ralph to build shelter but in the movie Jack helps to Ralph.
-In the book Simon couldn't find water but in the movie Simon founds water.
-In the movie Littlıns killed the pilot but in the novel they didn't kill the pilot.
-In the novel Sam and Eric saw the beast but in the movie one of the littlun saw the beast. .
-In the novel they saw a ship but in the movie they saw a helicopter.
-In the book Ralph didn't try to catch fish but in the movie Raplh tried to catch fish.
-In the book they ate fruit in the book but in the movie they ate a lizard.
-In the novel Simon talks with the Lord of the Flies but in the movie no one talks with the Lord of the Flies.
-Ralph and Piggy didn' find anything from the sea but in the movie Ralph and Simon found an piano accordion.
-In the novel they didn't search the pilot but in the movie they searched him.
-In the novel Simon didn't see a dream but in the movie he saws dream.
*In book the plain fall down to the island but movie starts in to the sea or ocean

-The pilot is dead in the book, but he is alive
in movie; he’s just wounded.
-In book, there’s no bad effect of the storm in island, but in movie the trees in forest fall down because of the storm.
-Simon speaks with Lord Of The Flies in the book, but in the movie we didn’t see it talking with Simon.
-In the book, Jack doesn’t help for shelters; but Jack helps for shelters in movie.
-Although Ralph and Simon don’t find an instrument from the sea in the novel, they find a piano accordion in the movie.
-Children’s hair become long in the book, but in movie their hair is short.
-In the movie; Ralph has a broken arm, but in novel he’s healthy.
-Fishes surrounded Simon's dead body in novel, but there's nothing surround the body in movie.
IN the book there is no adult in the island but when we watch the film there is an alive pilot .This situation disturbs to viewer.In the book Ralph is fair boy but in the film Ralph is not fair boy.Morever,in the book children’s hair became a longer but in the film is not.May be most important thing is in the book dialogue between Simon and lord of the flies but we can not see this dialogue in the film.In the book children eat meat and fruits but in the movie they also eat lizard .In the movie Ralph’s arm is broken but in the book is not.In the film Jack helphed Raplh to build shelters but in the book Jack didn’t help him because he just wanted to catch pig.First time in the book Samaneric saw the beast but in the movie one of the hunters saw the beast.In the movie Sam and Eric painted their face but in the book they did not paint their face because they did not want to seems like savage . ..

In the novel island burned because of Jack and his group.However the island burned bcause of all children in the movie.

3. Apart from the book, Ralph is getting wounded from his arm in the movie.
4. In the book, only Simon and Ralph is building shelters but however in the movie everybody is helping each other for shelters.
5. According to the book, pilot dies in the accident. In the film he doesn’t, he just gets wounded.

Ralph isn’t injured in the book but in the movie Ralph starts with an injured right arm.
In the book there is no mention of a black kid but in the book there is a kid in jack’s group.
Simon doesn’t have any nightmares but in the movie he sees the pilot waking up and saving them.
In the book the kids don’t think that the pilot is the beast but in the movie they mistake the pilot for the beast.
There isn’t any storm in the book but in the movie there is storms that scares the kids.
In the book the hunters don’t came and ask for the survival knife nicely they steal it first but in the movie the hunters ask nicely first.
There isn’t any survival knife in the book but in the movie they suddenly have a knife.
The hunters don’t ask Ralph’s group if they would came and eat with them but in the movie they do.
Simon talks to the lord of the flies but in the movie he doesn’t.
The time of the book is in first or second world war but in the movie it is in cold war.
The British navy finds them at the end but in the movie the Americans find them.
In the novel they came from plain but in the movie tey came with boat

Simon doesn’t see dream in the novel, in the movie simon saw dreams twice
In the island there is no mature people and this was important for kids but in the movie there is a wounded pilot and he was walking.
Ralph’s arm was good in the novel, he was hand stand but when we watched the film his arm was broken
In the novel simon didin’t find a water, Simon found water in the movie when he was walking around
Also he found a lizard in the forest but in the novel there is nothing like that and Jack and his group came and killed that lizard and ate it.
In novel first time they were eating only fruıts but in the movie they ate lizard.
Lord of the flies was talking with Simon and said somethings, in the movie Simon didin’t talk with lord of the flies and also in the novel he gave that name to lord of the flies
